Porcelain plates and bowls contain miniature porcelain landscapes, the earth contains the material to produce the objects, here, the objects contain the earth. The plates and bowls act as frames or boundaries to the landscape it contains, a symbolic landscape that the imagination can enter. There is a constant transfer between nature and culture, between the human and the universal, the microcosmic and the macrocosmic, a sublime landscape. An empty landscape that is partially there, dissolving and forming at the same time. As it dissolves into the plate, and through the firing process, it becomes intrinsically part of it.
