Earth, is a solid cast of the globe, with all the countries of the world traced onto the surface. I have carved back the areas of the seas to leave the landmasses in low relief. The piece remains wet, housed inside a glass vitrine, in order to promote the growth of mould and bacteria onto the surface of the work, reaffirming that the earth is a living entity and that it produces and sustains life. Earth signifies the constructed model and the planet that it represents whilst simultaneously defining the material nature of both.
