Lap, is part of an object that overlaps another, a circuit. A cup and saucer that are joined historically through association are now linked physically by piercing the saucer and using the handle as a linking device. They can no longer be separated without one being broken, their separate identities are denied. Arranged in a circle the preceding cup and saucer becomes the base for the next one, a continual circle or cycle.
